In 1859, two artists visited New Jersey's central highlands to study the iron industry, traveling part of the way on the Morris Canal. They describe the mines, the mining operations, the life and people of the area, a fascinating trip on the Morris Canal from Kenvil to Boonton and give a thorough description of the operations at Boonton from smelting iron to making nails.
Their articles include a lot of humor and over forty fine-line drawings of their trip.
The reprint also includes an introduction and fold-out map by Bob Goller and a few historic photographs. 7 x 10, 164 pages
